Although the spotlight of The Ellen DeGeneres Show usually belongs to the A-list celebrity guests, the talkshow host's opening monologue on Friday morning deserves all of the attention. Among other things, Ellen got in plenty of hilarious jabs about the Academy Awards, which air this weekend. "The Oscars are on Sunday because the best way to end Black History Month is to have the whitest Oscars ever," she said, as the crowd erupted in laughter. "It's just the truth. I'm just speaking the truth." She also made sure to call out Jennifer Lawrence's iconic fall, and gave everyone an extremely funny crash course in the eight films nominated for best picture.
