How Discovering Makeup in Her 20s Literally Changed This Woman's Life

Following your dreams is easy when you have a supportive home base to encourage you. But when they don't necessarily understand why you're following a certain path, it could potentially change the entire trajectory of your life.

Eman knows this better than anyone. It seems crazy that this YouTube sensation and overall stunner wasn't always set on becoming a makeup artist, but in fact it was the opposite. Growing up, her mother didn't wear makeup, and she wasn't introduced to the power cosmetics can have on one's self esteem until she hit her 20s. It was then, when she was working a comfy finance job, that she realized her true passion was becoming a makeup artist. "I realized that makeup can transform a person's confidence. It's aesthetically beautiful, but it was never really about that," said Eman. "You feel like the best version of yourself, and that is what I wanted to do for women everywhere. That's why I started my YouTube channel," said Eman.

Eman risked her job as an accountant to pursue makeup; anyone who has made a major life change without knowing the outcome understands how terrifying that can be. "Oh, and trying to explain that to my parents!" said Eman. "Of course they were like, 'No, you're not.'"

When asked how she got the courage to move forward - because, although it was an exciting change, it probably wasn't the most comforting - Eman explains that she knew she was meant to do it. "I think I felt like I found my passion, and there was no way I wasn't going to pursue it, and I was going to do whatever it took to make it happen." While it was hard at the beginning, Eman knew she would have "regretted every single day" not doing it, and suggests those of you out there who might be struggling with getting your family on board work hard and prove yourself; then, eventually, they might understand.

Check out how Eman's family now feels about her career in our interview, and be sure to see her at Beautycon Festival Los Angeles on Saturday, July 9!
